The Midtown Art Center is a 501(c)(3), not-for profit community supported cultural arts organization. Midtown enriches the neighborhood and the city with vitality of artistic and cultural expression by offering visual and performing exhibitions at Midtown Art Center and in Houston.

Midtown was founded in 1982 as a multi-discipline, multi-cultural community outreach art, organization. The ultimate authority of the Midtown Art Center organization lies with a volunteer working Board of Directors. The founding dream of Midtown was to transform the midtown area into the arts district of Houston with Midtown as the critical centerpiece.

Midtown is a 20,000 square foot facility, which is owned by the not-for-profit organization. The Center presently offers studio space to new and established artists who have a serious dedication to their art and the community, by providing them a studio and exhibition space.

The Center offers educational dance programming for youth and adults weekly in the dance studio. Some of the dance classes offered for adults and youths are ballet, jazz, modern, tap, hip hop, aerobics, gymnastics and African dance.
